Which reusable K-Cup fits your Keurig?

Every Keurig brews one of two ways. Older and most compact models push water through a single needle in the top of the pod. Newer MultiStream brewers use five needles that spray water across the whole surface of the grounds. A pod built for one system will fit inside the other, but the coffee will come out weak, or the brewer will leak. So the first thing to check is not the model name, but the needle.

Single-needle brewers — K-Classic, K-Elite, K-Select, K-Express, K-Compact, K-Mini and K-Mini Plus, K-Café, K-Latte, K-Duo (first generation), K-Duo Plus, K-Duo Essentials, and all Keurig 1.0 and 2.0 models (K200 to K575). These take our single-needle reusable K-Cups, in BPA-free plastic or 100% stainless steel.

MultiStream brewers — K-Supreme, K-Supreme Plus, K-Supreme SMART, K-Slim, K-Brew+Chill, and K-Duo Hot & Iced (second generation). These need our MultiStream reusable K-Cups with a five-hole lid that lines up with the brewer's needles.

Stainless steel or BPA-free plastic?

Both brew the same coffee. The difference is in how long they last, how they taste after a year, and how much they cost per pod.

If you brew more than one cup a day, stainless steel pays back the difference in a few weeks and you never buy another pod. If you want four pods so nobody waits for a rinse, the plastic multi-packs are the practical choice.

How much does a reusable K-Cup actually save?

A branded K-Cup pod costs $0.60 to $1.00. The same cup brewed from a bag of good ground coffee costs $0.20 to $0.35. At two cups a day, that is $300 to $470 a year back in your pocket, from a pod that costs less than a two-week supply of disposables. And you choose the coffee: grocery-store staples, a local roaster, decaf, or a blend nobody sells in pods.

How it works

1. Fill. Scoop in about 2 tablespoons of medium-ground coffee and level it off. Leave 2–3 mm of space under the lid.
2. Brew. Snap the lid shut, drop the pod into the holder, and brew as usual. On MultiStream brewers, point the arrow on the lid toward the front of the machine.
3. Rinse. Knock out the grounds and rinse under the tap, or put the pod in the dishwasher.
4. Repeat. That's it. No descaling, no special care.

Frequently asked questions

Are reusable K-Cups worth it?

Yes, if you brew at least one cup a day. A reusable pod pays for itself in two to three weeks against branded pods, and after that every cup costs a third as much. You also get to choose the coffee.

Do reusable K-Cups work in every Keurig?

Yes, but not the same pod in every brewer. Single-needle models need a single-needle pod, MultiStream models (K-Supreme, K-Slim, K-Duo Hot & Iced) need a MultiStream pod. See the list above, or check the brew head.

Can I use a reusable K-Cup in a Keurig K-Supreme or K-Slim?

Yes. Choose one of our MultiStream pods. The standard single-needle pod will fit but brews weak coffee in these machines.

Why are there grounds in my cup?

Almost always the grind is too fine, or the pod is overfilled. Switch to a medium grind and leave room under the lid. For a completely clean cup, use a paper liner.

How much coffee do I put in?

About 2 level tablespoons for an 8 oz cup. For a stronger cup, use a smaller brew size rather than more coffee.

Are they dishwasher safe?

The stainless steel pods, yes. The plastic pods go on the top rack. A quick rinse right after brewing is enough most days.

Will a reusable K-Cup void my Keurig warranty?

No. Keurig sells its own reusable filter, and using a third-party one does not affect the brewer's warranty.
