Start here: will it fit my Keurig?

Keurig brewers come in two types, and they take different pods. Takes ten seconds to check.

  1. Find your model

It’s printed on a label on the bottom or the back of the machine — for example K-Supreme Plus. It’s also on the box and in your order confirmation.

  2. Count the needles

Open the lid and look at the top. One needle in the center means a standard brewer. Five needles means MultiStream.

  3. Pick your pod

Match your brewer to the table below. Still unsure? Send us the model number.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Will it fit my machine?Your model number, single-needle vs MultiStream, K-Duo, holders

    Will it fit my machine?

    • Look for a label on the bottom or the back of your machine — the model number is printed there, for example K-Supreme Plus or DCC-3200. It’s also on the original box and in your order confirmation email. Send us that number and we’ll tell you exactly which of our products fits.

    • A standard Keurig pierces the pod with one needle in the center. A MultiStream brewer uses five needles that spray water over the grounds from several points at once. The two need differently built pods — a single-needle pod won’t seal correctly in a MultiStream machine, and the other way round.

    • Match it to your needle count. Single-needle brewers — K-Classic, K-Select, K-Elite, K-Compact, K-Express, the K-Mini series, K-Iced, K-Latte, the K-Café series, K-Duo, K-Duo Essentials and K-Duo Plus — take our single-needle pods. MultiStream brewers — K-Supreme, K-Supreme Plus, K-Slim (5-needle), K-Brew+Chill and K-Duo Hot & Iced (Gen 2) — take our MultiStream pods.
      Which reusable K-Cup do I need? →

    • It depends on which side you brew from. For the single-serve side, match the needle count: K-Duo and K-Duo Essentials are single-needle, K-Duo Hot & Iced (Gen 2) is MultiStream. For the carafe side, use our reusable K-Duo carafe filter, which fits K-Duo, K-Duo Essentials and K-Duo Hot & Iced. It does not fit the K-Duo Plus single-serve brewer.

    • Most of them do. Our stainless steel pods, the 7-pack and 4-pack color sets and the purple packs are all rated for Keurig 1.0 and 2.0 brewers. There is one exception: the 4 Reusable K-Cups (K-Express, K-Elite, K-Classic, K-Mini & More) pack is built for 1.0-series single-needle brewers and isn’t rated for 2.0. Keurig 2.0 machines read the pod lid before they brew, which is why two pods that look similar can carry different ratings — check the compatibility block on the product page, or send us your model and we’ll confirm.

    • Use our stainless steel MultiStream 2-pack — it’s the version rated for K-Supreme SMART and K-Supreme Plus SMART. Our plastic MultiStream 4-packs fit K-Supreme, K-Supreme Plus, K-Slim, K-Brew+Chill and K-Duo Hot & Iced (Gen 2), but not the SMART models.

    • Measure your water reservoir. Over 8 inches tall, or a side-loading tank, means the Tall Holder. Under 8 inches means the Short Holder.

    • Yes. Our Cuisinart charcoal filters fit every Cuisinart coffee maker with a built-in filter slot — drip brewers, thermal carafe models and single-serve machines — in 6-packs and 12-packs. Cuisinart and Keurig filters are different shapes and aren’t interchangeable.

  • Brewing & careWeak coffee, grounds in your cup, leaking pods, cleaning

    Brewing & care

    • About 2 tablespoons — roughly 10–12 g. Leave 2–3 mm of space at the top so the lid closes properly and the grounds have room to expand. Overfilling is the single most common cause of weak coffee and leaks.

    • A medium grind, about the texture of table salt. Too fine and water can’t pass through, so you get a weak, bitter cup with grounds in it; too coarse and the water runs straight past the coffee without extracting it.
      Choosing the right grind →

    • Almost always one of three things: the grind is too fine, the pod is overfilled, or the lid isn’t fully closed. Use a medium grind, fill to about 2 tablespoons, and make sure the lid snaps shut. If your brewer has a “strong” or “bold” setting, use it — reusable pods hold less coffee than a sealed commercial pod.
      Brewing techniques compared →

    • Your grind is probably too fine for a mesh filter. Go one step coarser, or drop a disposable paper liner into the pod — it catches fine particles and absorbs the oils that cause bitterness. Most people who use liners do it for the cleanup as much as the coffee: lift out, toss, done, no rinsing.
      Shop paper filters →

    • The mesh alone works fine. Liners are worth it in two cases: you grind finer than medium, or you don’t want to rinse the pod after every cup. They’re optional, not required.

    • Check the silicone gasket around the lid first — over time it stretches, flattens or tears, and then the seal fails. You can replace just the gasket instead of the whole pod. Make sure you order the version that matches your lid: 1-hole for single-needle pods, 5-hole for MultiStream.

    • Rinse it under warm running water right after brewing — ten seconds is enough to stop coffee oils building up. Once a week, soak it for five minutes in warm water with a drop of dish soap for a deeper clean.

  • Water filtersHow often to replace, prepping a new one, taste

    Water filters

    • Every 2 months, or about 60 tank refills — whichever comes first. Replace sooner if you live in a hard-water area. An expired filter is worse than no filter at all, because trapped particles can wash back into the water.
      Shop replacement filters →

    • Soak it in cold water for 5 minutes, rinse under cold running water for about 60 seconds, then push it into the holder until it clicks. Under ten minutes from start to finish.

    • It’s less critical, but still useful — the charcoal also catches minerals that build up as limescale inside the brewer. If you use distilled or reverse-osmosis water, you can skip it.
Are Keurig water filters necessary? →

    • They remove chlorine, calcium and odor-causing impurities before the water reaches your coffee. If your tap water has any chlorine smell, the difference is noticeable on the first cup.
Do water filters improve coffee taste? →

    • No. They’re different shapes and sit in different compartments. Use Keurig filters for Keurig brewers, Cuisinart filters for Cuisinart, and BWF100 for Breville.

  • DescalingHow often, vinegar or solution, the descale light won't turn off

    Descaling

    • The filter cleans the water going in. Descaling removes mineral buildup that has already formed inside the machine. You need both — a filter slows scale down, it doesn’t remove it.

    • Every 2–3 months for most machines, more often with hard water. Slower brewing or coffee that tastes slightly off is usually the first sign, well before any light comes on. One 8.45 fl oz bottle covers two full descaling cycles.
How to descale a Keurig →
How to clean a Cuisinart →
      Shop descaling solution →

    • You can, but it leaves a smell and an aftertaste that takes several rinse cycles to clear, and some manufacturers advise against it. Our descaling solution is odorless and made for coffee machines — Keurig, Nespresso, Breville, Ninja, De’Longhi, Cuisinart, Mr. Coffee and most other single-serve, drip and espresso brewers.
      Vinegar vs descaling solution →

    • On most models the light doesn’t clear by itself — it has to be reset, and the reset is different on every model.

  • Tea infusersWhich size, chain or basket

    Tea infusers

    • Match it to your cup. The small fits espresso cups, 6–8 oz mugs, travel thermoses and teapots with narrow openings. The medium and large are for standard mugs and teapots. If you brew a single strong cup, go smaller; if you brew a pot, go larger.

      Shop tea infusers →

    • Chain infusers hang over the rim of the cup and lift out easily. Basket infusers with handles sit inside a wider mug or teapot and give the leaves more room to expand, which usually means better extraction. All of ours are 304 stainless steel with a lid that doubles as a drip tray.
